This past weekend, one of my gal-pal besties, Andrea came over for a “girl’s night in” glass of wine (or, rather, glass-ES). I thought, what better time to check out my new Skil iXO Vivo cordless driver and wine opener and take it out for a spin…literally. If you’ll allow me to set down my glass, I’ll share some of my thoughts and musings…

The Skil Review…
Here’s what I liked about the Skil iXO Vivo power corkscrew:
• First impressions? Nice packaging, nicely compacted cordless tool, simple and concise accessories. In other words, figuring out how it worked looked totally doable.
• Anything dual purpose and practical gets a thumb-up with this decor nerd (and wine lovuh!)
• The included charger is always a “yippee!” moment.
• I loved the size of this. I could really see using the cordless screwdriver, like, daily!
• Once I figured out how to place the corkscrew housing onto my wine bottle, removing it was fast and easy. It also had a nifty reverse button to easily extract the cork from the screw.
• It’s just fun! And…oh, so great for that man in your life…or, if you’re a DIYer like me…buy one for yourself!
My overall rating: 4 stars!
Here’s what would have made it 5 starts:
• It could be a bit more intuitive. It took Andrea and I a few minutes (and a bit of shredding into the cork, bah!) to figure out how to place the housing onto the wine bottle in order for the screw to properly enter the cork. Note to self: don’t be such a guy…READ the instructions!
• Where to store this gadget is a bit of a head-scratcher…do I keep it in my kitchen junk drawer or out near my tool box. Hmm…?
• It would have been nice to have a simple case to keep everything neat and in its place.
Other than that…I think this is a fun and fantastic multipurpose gift and gadget for the holidays and any other time of year! Cheers!
