When it comes to holiday seasons, I’ve noticed there are trends that somehow show up seemingly everywhere. This year it happens to be crows and boos. Go figure! I’m not sure how this happens, but not only was I compelled to create a glow-in-the-dark pumpkin sign that reads “Boo!”, a brief visit around my neighborhood also had me seeing the same!
This cute bat boo! would be easy to make at home. Simply grab a wire hanger and a needle nose pliers. Bend to the shape you like, then stretch a pair of black panty-hose over the shape. Glue around the entire outside edge with craft glue to hold in place, let dry, then paint the details and lettering with craft paint. Glue to a stick or hang with fishing line or twine and you’re done!
I love this whimsical cow crossing turned humorous Halloween sign. It’s subtle, yet effective, and fun for kids of all ages!
This week, I dug out my Halloween decorations box and started to plop and place trinkets and stuff around our house. I had also picked up a few pumpkins from the local market which were happily sitting on each of our entryway steps. One thing was missing, though. The pumpkins looked so plain, but it’s still two weeks before the big night. If I carved them now, they’d get all moldy and cave in before the first trick-or-treater rang our doorbell.
What to do?
Hmm…On our daily walk this morning, Klunkers and I passed by this very cool corrugated “Boo!” sign below which was so fun and whimsical. I then remembered seeing this ad for glow-in-the-dark paint. Ah! Perfect! I could create something decorative for both day and night, and keep our gourds in tact until Halloween. My next thought? Bootiful.
NOTE: though my pumpkins did glow, the street lights made it pretty difficult to see, hence the missing “night” photo. This method might be best for inside the house inside your child’s room, as a fun way to decorate their rooms. Oh, and I had to use 5 coats for it to really glow.
Here is the clever, weather-proof corrugated “Boo!” sign. As we approached it on our walk, it stuck out like a Casper the Ghost, which is why both Klunkers and I loved this and had to show you all. No mistaking this home’s holiday spirit…ba-dum-bum!
