Lu·cite: is a transparent thermoplastic, often used as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass.¹ When it comes to this type of furniture, I’m a sort of late adopter. At first, it seemed too 22nd century and too 1960s at the same time, which led me to think it was kind of cheesy and cheap-looking. Then, suddenly…I got it. After watching how designers of so many styles and points of view placed Lucite in their spaces, typically amongst an eclectic array of textures, colors, and patterned furniture and accessories, I finally saw how rich and versatile this see-through material really can be. The fact that it takes up virtually no visual space means that it is perfect for smaller areas or to create a feeling of openness to a room. Here is just a taste of some Lucite design candy…clearly, I was altogether wrong about this deliciously glassy thermoplastic.
{Lucite bar stools}: elegant and hip, you’ll be serving style as well as cocktails at this bar.
{Lucite side table}: calming and light, there’ll be no distractions with a translucent table at your bedside.
{Lucite vanity}: leave the vanity to the furniture, sophisticated and invisibly showy.
{Lucite arm chair}: add just a touch of crystal bling with a relatively understated piece like this one.
{Lucite desk}: executive chic, the eclectic warmth of the leather chairs, rug and wall color shows through the Lucite unobstructed.
